Zennan Scores 27 Points, but Boxers Down Bearcats, 83-74

SALEM, ORE. -- Alex Zennan (Jr., G, Sammamish, WA/Eastlake HS) scored 27 points for Willamette University, but the Pacific University still defeated the Bearcats, 83-74, in a Northwest Conference game at Cone Field House on Saturday, Feb. 20. Pacific concluded the season with a 7-16 overall record, 4-12 in the NWC. Willamette ended the year at 4-21, 2-14 in the NWC.

Willamette and Pacific battled in a close, physical game throughout the night. Sophomore Maya McFaddin (G, McMinnville, OR/McMinnville HS) hit a jumper with 4:23 remaining in the first half to tie the score at 33-33. However, Pacific went on a small run to close the half with a 46-39 lead.

The Bearcats were able to keep the game close during the second half of play, never trailing by more than fifteen points. Still, WU could not find the energy to battle back completely.

Willamette recognized their lone senior, Nicki Clowdsley (P, Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) before the game. Clowdsley closed out her career with six points and eight rebounds. She accumulated 19 rebounds in her final two games as a Bearcat.

Junior point guard Erin Barclay (Snohomish, WA/Bothell HS) finished the game with 12 points, four assists and three steals. She was 3 for 4 on 3-point attempts. Willamette shot 40% (8-20) from 3-point range as a team.

Junior Shayna Glynn (P, Boise, ID/Walla Walla CC) provided the Bearcats with a burst of energy off the bench before leaving the game with a laceration above her eye. Glynn scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds in 22 minutes of play.

McFaddin also scored nine points, on 4-5 shooting. She added five rebounds. Keilyn Fujioka (Jr., P, Kailua, HI/Iolani School) had six points and eight rebounds.

The Bearcats shot 40.7% from the field (22-54). Pacific connected on 29-74 attempts (39.2%). Willamette held the Boxers to just 18.8% from the 3-point land (3-16).

Julianne Erbe of Pacific matched Zennan with 27 points. The Boxers also received 24 points from senior Rochelle Reeves-Howe.
