Scores 400 Points during her Willamette Career

SALEM, ORE. -- Four years of hard work in the Bearcat women's basketball program came to fruition for team captain Sophie Wilson (Sr., G, Port Townsend, WA/Port Townsend HS), as she was selected for Honorable Mention recognition on the 2012-13 All-Northwest Conference team.

Wilson is the first Bearcat to be picked for the women's basketball All-NWC team since the 2009-10 season. Whitworth University led all NWC teams with four players selected for All-Conference honors.

Throughout the season, Wilson was a force to be reckoned with during Willamette's games. She posted career highs in practically every major statistical category and was a game-changing presence every time she stepped on the court. Wilson handled the ball with purpose, and helped create numerous scoring opportunities for her teammates.

Wilson led the Bearcats in scoring with 8.3 points per game. She reached double figures eight times, including a career high 24-point performance against Puget Sound on Feb. 2, 2013. Wilson finished the season with a career-high 200 points, which pushed her career total to 400.

Perhaps Wilson's most dangerous attribute was her three-point shooting. Wilson went 43 of 122 (35.2%) from behind the arc in 2012-13, good for sixth in the NWC. Wilson's 43 three-pointers represented her career season-high. She finished with 72 career three-point baskets.

Opposing teams were forced to be constantly aware of Wilson's presence behind the line, and her shots often swung the momentum in Willamette's favor during games.

Wilson also finished the season with career highs in games started (10), field goals (70), field goal percentage (35.4%) and rebounds (34). She tied for the team lead with 27 steals.
