Willamette to Play at Puget Sound, Host George Fox, in NWC Action

DeLong and Towry Lead Bearcats with Double-Digit Scoring Averages

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's basketball team will continue its Northwest Conference schedule this weekend with a road game at University of Puget Sound on Friday, Jan. 9 and a home game against George Fox University on Saturday, Jan. 10. The game at UPS is set for 6 p.m. (PST), while the game with GFU is slated to start at 4 p.m.

Willamette enters the weekend with an overall record of 5-6, including 0-2 in the NWC. Puget Sound is 9-1 on the season and 0-1 in the NWC after losing to George Fox, 77-55, on Saturday, Jan. 3. George Fox is 11-0 overall and 2-0 in the NWC.

The Bruins are ranked #10 in the D3hoops.com Top25 and are #11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll for NCAA Division III. The Loggers are ranked #25 by D3hoops.com.

The top scorer for the Bearcats is senior point guard Jojo DeLong (Santa Clarita, CA/Canyon HS) with 14.5 points per game. She has provided Willamette with 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game, and ranks second on the team with 27 three-point baskets.

Kylie Towry (Fr., G, Medford, OR/South Medford HS) follows with 11.0 points per game and is the team leader with 34 three-pointers. She is shooting 44.7% from three-point range and has converted 13 of 15 free throws fro 86.7%.

Katie Kalugin (Sr., G, Woodburn, OR/Woodburn HS) has added 8.9 points per game to go along with a team-high 7.0 rebounds per contest.

The Bearcats lead the NWC with 84 three-point baskets for an average of 7.6 three-pointers per game. On defense, Willamette is allowing just 61.3 points per game.

Puget Sound is led by three players averaging in double figures. Katy Ainslie (Sr., Post) is averaging 13.9 points per game, while Amanda Forshay (Sr., G) is contributing 12.2 points per contest. Emily Sheldon (Jr., G) provides 11.8 points per game.

Ainslie has shot 46.0% form the field and 87.5% at the free throw line. Forshay has connected on 80.6% at the charity stripe, while Sheldon has hit 80.0% at the line. As a team, UPS has sank 74.8% of its free throws.

Forshay tops the Loggers with 7.8 rebounds per game. Alex Noren (So., G) has added 5.6 boards per game, while Ainslie has averaged 5.1 rebounds.

George Fox has achieved its undefeated record by averaging 74.4 points per game and holding opponents to 50.9 points per contest. The Bruins are shooting 40.6% from the field.

Justine Benner (Jr., Post) ranks first on the scoring chart with 15.1 points per game on 48.1% shooting. Jami Morris (Sr. Post) chips in 11.6 points per game, with Lauren Codling supplying 11.5 points per contest. Codling leads the team with 11.0 rebounds per game.

The Bruins are averaging 12.5 assists per game. GFU has seven players averaging between one and two assists per night. Codling leads the squad with 1.8 assists per game, while Nicole Blizzard (Jr., Post) follows with 1.7.

GFU has forced opponents into 24.4 turnovers per game. The Bruins have lost the ball an average of just 13.5 times per game.
