DeLong is Chosen NWC Student-Athlete of the Week in Women's Basketball

Helps WU go 2-0 in Hawaii, Scores Career-High 28 Points against Wheaton (Mass.)

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior point guardJojo DeLong (Santa Clarita, Calif./Canyon HS) has been named Northwest Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the extended period between Dec. 15 and Dec. 28.

DeLong scored a career-high 28 points in Willamette's 65-57 win over Wheaton College (Mass.) on Dec. 19 at the Hoop N. Surf Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. She also grabbed eight rebounds, earned three assists and registered one steal against the Lyons. She hit 8 of 15 field goals, including 4 of 9 on 3-pointers, and went 8 for 10 on free throws.

Against Lake Forest College (Illinois) on Dec. 20 at the Hoop N Surf Classic, she scored nine points, hauled down four rebounds and provided four assists in a 43-38 win.

During the two games, she averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. She was 11 of 28 from the field, 7 of 19 on 3-pointers and 8 of 11 on free throws.

DeLong is Willamette's top scorer and ranks second in the NWC with 15.4 points per game. She also leads the Bearcats with 40 assists and tops the NWC with 4.4 assists per game. She ranks second on the WU roster with 5.8 rebounds and per game and is second with 24 three-point baskets.

The Bearcats are 5-4 on the season. They will return to action on Friday, Jan. 2, with the start of NWC action against Whitworth University at Cone Field House. Game time is set for 6 p.m. (PST). Willamette will also play at home on Saturday, Jan. 3 against Whitman College at 4 p.m. (PST).

Jojo DeLong averaged 18.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in wins over Wheaton College (Mass.) and Lake Forest College (Illinois).
