Hopkins is Named NWC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior guard Kassin Hopkins (Connell, WA/Connell HS/Bellevue College) has been named Northwest Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in games on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16. The Bearcats went 2-0 during the week with a 72-58 victory over Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) on Friday and a 78-70 overtime win against the University of California, Santa Cruz on Saturday.

Hopkins averaged 21 points per game during the week, while shooting 58.3% from the field (14 of 24) and 53.8% on 3-pointers (7 of 13). She also averaged 5.0 rebounds per game.

In the win over Pomona-Pitzer, Hopkins scored 22 points, was 7 of 11 on field goals (5 of 8 on 3-pointers) and grabbed six rebounds. One day later, she earned 20 points, hit 7 of 13 field goals, and grabbed four boards in the win versus UC Santa Cruz.

For the season, Hopkins is Willamette's leading scorer with 16.5 points per game and she is averaging 5.0 rebounds per contest. She is shooting 44.4% from 3-point range (12 of 27).

The Bearcats are 3-1 overall. They will take on California Lutheran University on Friday, Nov. 22 at Cone Field House. Game time is set for 6 p.m. (PST).
