Elizabeth Logsdon

What was your most memorable moment throughout your career at Willamette?

Beating George Fox at the beginning of the year at their place.

Describe your feelings when you found out the athletic events were canceled for the remainder of the year.

My season ended before this all happened so I was fortunate to be able to have a full season. However, I felt very sad that other students got their seasons taken away from them. We also never got to have an end of the year banquet which is sad.

How have you been handling life in quarantine? Are you home or on campus? What's it like learning online and not being around your teammates?

Life during quarantine has been interesting. I have been trying to get outside as much as possible since the weather has been nice, while also trying to get all my work done. I am currently still in Salem, living with my roommates, including one of my teammates. Learning online for me has been working out just fine. For one class in particular, however, it is very hands on and so the process has been somewhat complicated. Luckily, I got to say goodbye to a lot of my teammates before this all happened, but it definitely isn't fun to not spend this time with them.

What has your experience as a Bearcat taught you?

It has taught me to stand up for myself in difficult situations and to work hard to achieve your goals.

If you could leave one piece of advice for future Bearcats, what would it be?

Enjoy your time as a Bearcat, it goes by fast.

What are your future plans following graduation?

Next year, I will be living in Portland where I hope to find a physical therapy (PT) aid job in order to get experience in the field and gain hours for grad school, where I will be continuing on with my education to be a physical therapist.

From their teammates

What was your most memorable moment of Elizabeth?

Claire Bonnet: I would yell out "Big ladies only!" to her whenever she would make a really good post move or score on someone.

Ava Kitchin: Her game against Linfield when she was automatic buckets!!

How has Elizabeth impacted you in your sport or in life?

Claire Bonnet: Liz taught me to remember why you play basketball and to always have fun when you're playing. I remember whenever she made a good move that she knew she practiced over and over, she would always run down the court smiling, and that just made me so happy for her.

Avery Mickelsen: Liz taught me an enormous amount about the game of basketball, but even more about confidence in your own skill set. She made me a better player and was always an amazing teammate to me. I'm proud to call her a friend. I will miss getting beat up on every day during post practice with her.

Ava Kitchin: I've never had a teammate who plays our position that I can look up to. From the beginning, Liz was fun too watch and take notes from. She's made a huge impact to me because she is such a good mentor and would always help explain a move or the footwork if I was struggling. I knew I could count on her.

What makes Elizabeth special?

Claire Bonnet: Liz was often the person to get on people when they weren't doing something right. She wouldn't necessarily yell at them, but always made sure to give constructive feedback on how to improve the next time.

Ava Kitchin: Liz is special because she always put her teammates before herself and wanted what was best for the team. She was always supportive of me and the rest of the team, and she would always keep her cool. Her ability to compose herself in tough situations is something special and something I admire.

Is there anything Elizabeth brought to the program that will have a lasting impact?

Claire Bonnet: I think Liz will be known as a workhorse: someone who does the dirty work that often goes unnoticed. She got beat-up down in the post day in and day out, posting up and battling for rebounds. She showed incredible toughness because she knew this is what the team needed from her.

Avery Mickelsen: Liz brought a new level of post game to the team. She really stepped up and excelled as the top post on the team. She became a real difference maker in games for us. We will always remember the extra fire she brought to our matchup against UPS each year.

Ava Kitchin: Elizabeth's patience and leadership will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
