SALEM, Ore. -- The Willamette University women's basketball team has received Special Mention for the Bearcats' academic success as part of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll program for 2021-22. The WBCA recognizes an Academic Top 25 in each division of competition in the NCAA, as well as the NAIA and two-year colleges every year based on the combined grade point average of each team. In addition, all college women's basketball teams with a 3.0 combined GPA receive Special Mention.

Willamette registered a 3.158 team GPA for student-athletes on the team this past season. The Bearcats were one of two Northwest Conference teams to be honored as Academic Special Mention selections by the WBCA. Willamette finished the season with a 12-13 overall record, including 7-9 in the NWC.

"Being named to the WBCA Academic Top 25 Honor Roll is a tremendous honor, and I'm so happy to see them recognized for the dedication they have shown to their academics," Willamette Head Women's Basketball Coach Peg Swadener said.
