Bearcats Sit in Second Place after first round of Pacific Invitational

Gallup, Kaur Sra both card 87s for Willamette

ALOHA, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's golf team holds second place in the team standings at the Pacific Invitational after the Bearcats had four golfers finish in the top 18 during the first round on Saturday, March 9 at The Reserve Vineyard Golf Club.

Willamette's score of 352 isn't within immediate reach of leader George Fox University's 324, but the Bearcats do have a ten-stroke lead over third place Pacific Lutheran University (362). Warner Pacific College is fourth at 365, with Pacific University in fifth at 372, Corban University in sixth at 377 and Linfield College in seventh at 416.

LettaJoe Gallup (So.,Alameda, CA/Holy Names HS) and Taneesh Kaur Sra (Fr.,Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose HS) were the two top finishers for the Bearcats. Both carded scores of 87 to finish in a tie for 13th place after the first round.

The current leader is Kelsey Morrison of George Fox, who shot a 78 to sit at six over par. Brinn Hovde of Linfield and Whitney Jammerman from GFU, were tied for second place, as both golfers carded an 80. Hailey Ostrom of GFU was fourth at 81, and Kiana Lumanlan, also from George Fox, was fifth at 82.

Elise Levy (Fr., Reno, NV/Bishop Monague HS) of Willamette was 16th with an 88. Mckenzie Weinhold (So., Placerville, CA/El Dorado HS/Univ. of Nevada-Reno) of WU shot a 90 and was tied for 18th.

The final round of the Pacific Invitational will be held Sunday, March 10.
