Willamette Finishes in Second Place at Pacific Invitational in Women's Golf

Levy Cards a 36-hole Score of 174 to Claim 13th in the Individual Standings

ALOHA, ORE. -- Willamette University finished in second place in the team standings at the Pacific Invitational with an overall score of 702 (352-350) as the 36-hole event concluded on Sunday, March 10. George Fox University earned first place with a score of 633 (324-309).

Following the Bruins and the Bearcats on the team leaderboard was Pacific Lutheran University in third place at 708 (362-346). The Lutes trailed WU by 10 strokes on the first day and picked up four shots over the final 18 holes, but couldn't catch the Bearcats.

Warner Pacific College held fourth place at 728 (365-363). Pacific University was fifth at 739 (372-367), while Corban University was sixth at 754 (377-377) and Linfield College was seventh at 816 (416-400).

Kelsey Morrison of GFU won medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 150 (78-72). Her 72 on Sunday was the low round of the tournament. Morrison led the way as the Bruins registered the six lowest 36-hole scores of the tournament.

Also placing in the top six for George Fox were Kiana Lumanlan in second at 161 (82-79), plus Loreece Magsanide (86-78), Abby Mann (84-80) and Hailey Ostrom (81-83) tied for third at 164, and Whitney Jammerman in sixth at 165 (80-85).

Willamette's top finisher was Elise Levy (Fr., Reno, NV/Bishop Monague HS), who took 13th place at 174. She shot an 88 in the first round and registered an 86 in the second round.

The next three golfers for the Bearcats were part of a four-way tie for 16th place at 176. LettaJoe Gallup (So., Alameda, CA/Holy Names HS) shot 87-89, Taneesh Kaur Sra (Fr., Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose HS) also carded 87-89, and Mckenzie Weinhold (So., Placerville, CA/El Dorado HS/Univ. of Nevada-Reno) scored 90-86.

Mele Ana Kastner (So., Vancouver, WA/Columbia River HS) of WU improved by 13 strokes on the second day. She shot a 105 in the first round, but lowered her score to 92 over the final 18 holes.

The Willamette women's golf team will travel to Hawaii to compete in the Ohana Classic on March 26-27. The tournament will be held at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course and the Ko'olau Golf Club. Both courses are on Oahu.
