Willamette Defeats Linfield by One Stroke in Women's Golf at Trysting Tree

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The Willamette University women's golf team edged out nearby rival Linfield University by a single stroke at the Bearcat Women's Dual #1 on Saturday, April 13 at Trysting Tree Golf Club. The Bearcats earned a team score of 352, while Linfield completed the tournament's 18 holes at 353.

Roberta Moore (So., Lakewood, WA/Lakes HS/Lewis & Clark College) led the Bearcats by carding an 86 for second place in the individual standings. Josie Daywitt of Linfield won the individual title by one stroke with an 85.

Anushka Srivastav (Sr., Pune, India/Mahindra International School) of Willamette and Tori Schuller of the Wildcats tied for third place at 87. Saida Seelig (So., Portland, OR/Wilson HS) of WU placed fifth after shooting an 88.  Also contributing to the Bearcats' team score was Mallory Tolliver (So., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington HS) who placed seventh with a 91.

Willamette and Linfield will face either other again on Sunday, April 14 during the Bearcat Women's Dual #2. Sunday's 18-hole event will be played at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Oregon.
