Pacific Shuts Out Willamette in Women's Soccer, 3-0

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's soccer team lost, 3-0 to visiting Pacific University at Sparks Field on Saturday, Oct. 9. Pacific climbed to 5-5-1 overall and to 5-2-0 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette moved to 4-7-0 overall and to 3-4-0 in the NWC.

Pacific controlled the ball for most of the game and out-shot the Bearcats 16-8. The Boxers scored their first goal in the 15th minute when Ashley Kanda found the back of the net. She was assisted by Bryanna DeLima. Pacific took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Boxers were able to score twice. Kristen Dick scored her first goal of the season on a shot from 20 yards out that went over Willamette's goalkeeper. Dick was assisted by Mariah Schoniwitz.

The final goal was scored by Sarah Tuffey. It was her second goal of the season and she was assisted by Jaymie Komo. The goal came in the 85th minute of play.

Freshman Nicole Price (GK, Auburn, WA/Thomas Jefferson HS) picked up the loss in goal for Willamette. She recorded six saves and allowed three goals.

Brittany Hartmann earned the win in goal for the Boxers. She made three saves en route to the shutout.

Willamette is back in action on Sunday, Oct. 10 at home against Pacific Lutheran University. The game will begin at 12 p.m. (PDT) at Sparks Field.
