Linfield Defeats Willamette, 4-0, in Women's Soccer

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's soccer team dropped a Northwest Conference match to visiting Linfield College, 4-0, on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Linfield improved to 9-4-0 overall and 7-2-0 in the NWC. Willamette is now 5-8-0 overall and 4-5-0 in the NWC.

The Wildcats scored two goals in each half to secure the victory. Emily Fellows scored both goals for Linfield in the first half. The freshman has scored 19 goals this season.

In the second half of play, Linfield scored its third goal of the game on a shot by Christine Tamamoto. The goal was scored in the 56th minute and was Tamamoto's first of the season. She was assisted by Rennika Doty.

Linfield added its final goal in the 88th minute when Emily Grachek scored on a rebound. She was assisted by Brittany Willis.

For the game, Willamette had two shots, both on goal. Linfield attempted 17 shots, with 11 on goal.

Kelli Gano (Sr., GK, Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) made seven saves but allowed four goals to earn the loss. Kelsey Hasselblad was the keeper of record for Linfield. She made one save in 80 minutes of play.

Willamette is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 16 at George Fox University. The game will begin at 12 p.m. (PDT) in Newberg, Ore.
