Women's Soccer Players Earn All-NWC Honors

SALEM, ORE. -- Five members of the Willamette University women's soccer team received All-Northwest Conference honors following the 2010 season. Stephanie Skelly (Jr., MF, Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS), Alex Batzer (Sr., F, Medford, OR/North Medford HS) and Andrea Rowan (So., MF, Boise, ID/Timberline HS) were each named Second Team All-NWC. Seniors Kelli Gano (GK, Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) and Megan Moore (D, Tigard, OR/Tigard HS) were named Honorable Mention All-NWC.

Skelly was a First Team All-NWC selection in 2009. She finished this season with 11 goals and 22 total points. She was third in the NWC in total goals and 4th in points. Skelly started all 20 games for Willamette and scored three game-winning goals.

Batzer, a senior, scored five goals and had five assists in her final season with Willamette. She finished tied for 3rd in the NWC for total assists. Batzer started in 70 games during her career at WU and scored 17 goals. She was an Honorable Mention All-NWC selection in 2008 and 2009.

Rowan followed up a successful freshman campaign in 2009 with a solid performance in 2010. The sophomore scored one goal and had two assists. She now has four career goals and four career assists. She was also selected Second Team All-NWC in 2009.

Goalkeeper Gano started in all 19 games that she participated in this season. She faced 187 shots and allowed just 27 goals to earn a 1.61 goals against average. She made 71 saves in 2010 to move her career total to 272. Gano was named Honorable Mention All-NWC in 2007.

Moore anchored the Willamette defense all season. The senior also found success on the offensive end, scoring one goal and earning an assist. Moore started every game for the Bearcats. She finished her career with 42 starts.

Willamette finished the season with a 7-11-2 overall record and a 6-8-2 record in the NWC. Their record earned the Bearcats a 5th place finish.

Stephanie Skelly was named Second Team All-NWC after scoring 11 goals this season.
