Women's Soccer Scores Late Goal to Beat Lewis & Clark, 2-1

PORTLAND, ORE. -- Freshman Sabine Wetzel (MF, Martinez, CA/Campolindo HS) scored a goal with just over a minute remaining to break a 1-1 tie and give the Willamette University women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Lewis & Clark grabbed a 1-0 lead early on a goal from Natalie Levy. The goal was Levy's second of the season and was assisted by Kate Browning.

The Bearcats would battle back to tie the game before half on a goal from senior defender Megan Moore (Portland, OR/Tigard HS). Moore's first goal of the season was unassisted in the 32nd minute.

The teams remained tied until Wetzel's last-minute goal against the Pioneers. Wetzel scored on just the second shot of her Bearcat career. She was unassisted on the play.

Kelli Gano (Sr., GK, Damacus, OR/Cleveland HS) earned the win in goal for Willamette. She played 90 minutes, allowed one goal and made five saves. Shayna Lentz was the losing goalkeeper for L&C. Lentz allowed two goals and made three saves.
