Skelly Selected NWC Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

Earns Award for Second Consecutive Week

SALEM, ORE. -- Senior midfielder Stephanie Skelly (Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) of Willamette University has been named Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the week for the second consecutive week. She earned the most recent award for her efforts in Willamette's games at Whitman College on Oct. 8 and at Whitworth University on Oct. 9.

Skelly scored both of Willamette's goals in the final 5:12 against Whitman, as she led the Bearcats past the Missionaries, 2-1. She scored at 84:48 to tie the game and netted the game-winner at 87:11. She took 5 shots against the Missionaries with three shots on goal. Against Whitworth in a 3-1 loss, she took three shots with one shot on goal.

Skelly also was chosen NWC Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week a week ago, after she scored two goals in a 4-0 win over George Fox University on Oct. 2 and helped Willamette defeat Pacific University, 2-1, on Oct. 1.

For the season, Skelly is Willamette's top scorer. She has recorded 8 goals and 1 assist for 17 points. During her career with the Bearcats she has achieved 27 goals and three assists for 57 points.

Willamette will host nearby rival Linfield College in a Northwest Conference game on Saturday, Oct. 15. Game time at Sparks Field is scheduled for 12 p.m. (PDT). Earlier this year, Willamette earned a 3-1 win at Linfield.

Stephanie Skelly scored two goals in the last six minutes to send Willamette past Whitman, 2-1.
