Desautels Named NWC Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

Scores a Goal against George Fox, adds another versus Linfield

SALEM, ORE. -- Sarah Desautels (Jr., MF/F, Snohomish, WA/Glacier Peak HS) of Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in games played on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6.

Desautels scored a goal in each of Willamette's games, which were played on the road at George Fox University and Linfield College. She took a total of 14 shots, including seven shots on goal.

For the season, she is Willamette's top scorer with 4 goals and 1 assist. She also leads the Bearcats with 37 shots and 20 shots on goal. She has taken 17 of Willamette's 44 corner kicks.

Desautels is one of four Bearcats who have started all 10 games. She ranks second on the team with 843 minutes played.

Willamette lost to George Fox, 2-1, despite outshooting the Bruins 28-7. The Bearcats fell to Linfield College, 4-1. WU is 2-8 on the season, including 0-6 in the NWC, but the Bearcats have lost six games by one goal, with five of the one-goal games in NWC action.

The Bearcats will play two Northwest Conference home games this weekend, as the Bearcats take on Pacific University on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday, Oct. 13. Both games are part of Willamette's Family Weekend and will start at 12 p.m. (PDT).
