SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University and Lewis & Clark College will open the Northwest Conference women's soccer schedule for both teams on the L&C campus on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Game time at Griswold Stadium is slated for 7 p.m. (PDT).

The Bearcats enter the game after picking up momentum with a 7-0 rout of Northwest Christian University on Friday, Sept. 12. In that match, Jill Phillips (Jr., MF/GK, Fairbanks, AK/West Valley HS) scored two goals and added an assist to help the Bearcats build a 5-0 halftime lead. Veronica Ewers (Jr., MF, Moscow, ID/Moscow HS) scored a goal in each half.

Phillips is Willamette's top scorer this season with 2 goals and 2 assists for 6 total points. Ewers ranks second with two goals and 4 total points. Rachel Fleener (Jr., F, Olympia, WA/Olympia HS) has scored one goal and contributed one assist.

Lewis & Clark is 2-1-1 on the season with wins over the University of California-Santa Cruz and Whittier College. The Pioneers downed Whittier 3-1 on Sunday, Sept. 14.

Last year, the teams split their two meetings. Lewis & Clark won at Willamette, 3-2, while the Bearcats claimed a 1-0 win in Portland.

Veronica Ewers is tied for the Willamette goal scoring lead with two goals this season.
