Barclay Finishes Willamette Women's Soccer Career with Impressive Statistics

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior goalkeeper Kristen Barclay (Kenmore, WA/Cedar Park Christian School) concluded her women's soccer career with exceptional statistics this season and amazing statistics for her career. Barclay saw action in 74 games with 64 starts for the Bearcats, as she played 6,010 minutes in goal. She played in 14 games as a first-year player in 2016, and then competed in all 60 games over the next three seasons with 20 games per year.

Her season stats were strong this fall, as she helped the Bearcats finish the 2019 season with an 11-7-2 overall record. Her efforts in goal helped Willamette achieve a 10-4-2 mark and third place finish in the Northwest Conference. She was in goal for 1,693 of the team's 1,908 minutes. Barclay earned a 0.90 goals against average with 84 saves and a .832 save percentage. She registered five solo shutouts and contributed to three shared shutouts to go along with a 9-7-2 record.

Barclay was named Honorable Mention All-NWC in 2019. In 2018, she was chosen Second Team All-NWC.

For her career, Barclay achieved a 0.85 goals against average on her way to an impressive 38-18-11 overall record (.649). Her consistent play in goal allowed her to accumulate 19 solo shutouts and 13 shared shutouts for 32 shutouts during her career.

Robin (Heard) Buckingham, who played at Willamette from 1995 until 1998, holds Willamette's school goalkeeping records. Buckingham set season records with 15 shutouts and a 0.38 goals against average in 1998. She set Willamette career records with 52 shutouts and a 0.56 goals against average. Buckingham was inducted into the Willamette Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.

In addition to being a tremendous women's soccer player, Barclay also is a member of the Willamette women's golf team. She missed the fall golf season due to her soccer commitments, but Barclay will return to the golf courses this spring for her senior season.
