Five Players have Scored Goals or Assists for Bearcats in First Four Games

SALEM, Ore. -- In Willamette University's first four women's soccer games of the season, five Bearcats have contributed goals and/or assists. As a team, Willamette has scored two or more goals in three of the four games. WU is 1-3 on the season, 1-3 in the NWC, with two of the losses in overtime.

Emma Blackburn (Jr., F, Los Altos, CA/Saint Francis HS) tops the scoring chart with four goals and one assist for nine total points. She scored two goals and an assist against Pacific University on March 14 and then added two more goals against Linfield University on March 17. She leads the Bearcats with eight total shots and four shots on goal. Blackburn was chosen NWC Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in Willamette's 3-1 win over Pacific.

Lacey Jones (Sr., F, Portland, OR/David Douglas HS) ranks second on the team with two goals and one assist for five points. Bridget Bodor (So., F, Manitou Springs, CO/Manitou Springs HS) has scored one goal, while Jackie Gilroy (So., F, Mercer Island, WA/Mercer Island HS) and Aanya Friedeman (Fy., M, Camas, WA/Camas HS) each have provided two assists. Sydney Wilson (Jr., M, Olympia, WA/Capital HS) has registered one assist.

Blackburn's second goal against Linfield forced the game into overtime. She scored the tying goal at 81:35 on a shot from 16 yards into the lower left corner of the goal.

Willamette is set to return to action on Saturday, March 27 against George Fox University. Game time at Sparks Field is scheduled for 4 p.m. (PDT).
