SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior goalkeeper Grasiela Quevedo-Ramos (Salem, OR/West Salem HS) has been named the Northwest Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in the Bearcats' wins over Lewis & Clark College on Wednesday, March 31 and Saturday, April 3. Willamette defeated the Pioneers 4-3 in the first meeting at Sparks Field and 3-1 in the second meeting on the L&C campus.

Quevedo-Ramos played all 180 minutes in the two games. She earned six saves for the Bearcats, including a couple of impressive saves. In the second game, L&C pulled within 2-1 on a goal at 37:39, but Quevedo-Ramos and the rest of the WU defense held the Pioneers scoreless the rest of the game. Quevedo-Ramos improved to 3-3 on the season as Willamette moved to 3-4.

"Grasiela has put in so much time between the posts over her four years as a Bearcat, and it's so great that her work and performances are being recognized and honored," Willamette Head Women's Soccer Coach Hillary Arthur said. "She has performed well this season and we look forward to watching her in action one more time in our last game at George Fox. Grasiela will graduate this spring and we're sad to see her go, but we know she's going to go out and impact our community and world in positive and meaningful ways. We are excited for her and her next chapter in life."

The Bearcats will take on George Fox University on Thursday, April 8. Game time in Newberg, Oregon, is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. (PDT).
