  • Kam Earns First Team All-Northwest Conference Honors

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University women's tennis player Tiffany Kam (Sr., Pearl City, HI/Punahou School) has been named First Team All-Northwest Conference for the 2008 season, as determined by the NWC head coaches. Kam and seven other athletes received First Team honors, while six players were named to the Second Team.
  • Lewis & Clark Defeats Willamette, 5-3, in Fifth Place Match

    YAKIMA, WASH. -- Lewis & Clark College won the top two singles matches and the top two doubles matches on on its way to a 5-3 victory over Willamette University to take fifth place at the Northwest Conference Women's Tennis Tournament, Friday, April 18 at the Yakima Tennis Club. L&C finished the season at 12-8, while Willamette concluded its schedule at 8-13.
  • Whitman Downs Bearcats, 5-2, in First Round of NWC Tournament

    YAKIMA, WASH. -- Whitman College led 2-1 after doubles and added three wins in singles to defeat Willamette University, 5-2, in the first round of the Northwest Conference Women's Tennis Tournament, Friday, April 18 at the Yakima Tennis Club. Two singles matches were not completed once Whitman clinched the team victory.
  • Willamette Evens NWC Record with 8-1 Victory at Pacific

    HILLSBORO, ORE. -- Willamette University achieved an 8-1 victory over Pacific University on Sunday, April 13 at the Portland CC Rock Creek Campus, as the Bearcats concluded the regular season with an 8-8 record in Northwest Conference play. The win allowed the Bearcats to clinch the #5 seed in the NWC Tournament.
  • Willamette Upends Puget Sound in Women's Tennis, 6-3

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University put its depth in singles to good use on Saturday, April 12, as the Bearcats won matches at the bottom four singles positions in a 6-3 victory over the University of Puget Sound. The triumph at the WU Tennis Courts improved Willamette to 7-11 overall, including 7-8 in the NWC. Puget Sound fell to 3-15 overall, 2-14 in the conference.
  • Linfield Defeats Bearcats, 6-3, at WU Tennis Courts

    SALEM, ORE. -- Linfield College remained undefeated in Northwest Conference women's tennis action, as the Wildcats defeated Willamette University, 6-3, at the WU Tennis Courts on Friday, April 11. The weather was sunny and warm, with Willamette playing outside for the first time in nine home matches this spring.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University rallied from a 2-1 deficit after the doubles competition to defeat Lewis & Clark College, 5-4, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match at the Courthouse Tennis Club on Saturday, April 5. The Bearcats improved to 6-10 overall, 6-7 in the NWC. Lewis & Clark dropped to 10-6 overall, 10-4 in the NWC.
  • Willamette Rolls Past George Fox in NWC Match, 7-2

    SALEM, ORE. -- For the second time this season, Willamette University defeated George Fox University, 7-2 in women's tennis, as the Bearcats rolled past the Bruins on Friday, April 4 at the Courthouse Tennis Club. The Bearcats defeated George Fox by an identical score on Feb. 29 at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton, Ore.
  • Whitworth Women Defeat Willamette, 9-0, in Spokane

    SPOKANE, WASH. -- Whitworth University defeated Willamette University, 9-0, in women's tennis on Saturday, March 29 at the Scotford Tennis Center. Whitworth improved to 12-3 on the season and 10-1 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette fell to 4-10 overall, 4-7 in the NWC.

    WALLA WALLA, WASH. -- Willamette University was defeated by the University of California-Santa Cruz in women's tennis, 9-0, on Thursday, March 27 at neutral courts in Walla Walla, Wash. UC-Santa Cruz improved to 6-7 on the season, while Willamette dropped to 4-8.

    WALLA WALLA, WASH. -- Whitman College won the top four singles matches and claimed two of three doubles matches, as the Missionaries defeated Willamette University, 6-3, in Northwest Conference action on Friday, March 28. Whitman upped its overall record to 10-7, while improving to 8-3 in the NWC. Willamette dropped to 4-9 overall, 4-6 in the conference.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Every match counted on Friday, March 14, as wins at #6 singles and #3 doubles helped Willamette University edge Pacific Lutheran University, 5-4, in Northwest Conference women's tennis action at the Courthouse Tennis Club. Willamette improved to 4-7 overall, while Pacific Lutheran fell to 4-5 on the season. The Bearcats and PLU are tied for fifth place in the NWC at 4-5 in conference play.
  • Willamette Falls to NCAA Division I Foe the University of Idaho, 9-0

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's tennis team, which competes in NCAA Division III, played up two levels on Thursday, March 13, when the Bearcats hosted the University of Idaho, from NCAA Division I, at the Courthouse Tennis Club. The Vandals defeated the Bearcats, 9-0, to improve to 6-7 on the season. Willamette fell to 3-7 overall.
  • Beacats Pounce on Loggers for 8-1 Win

    TACOMA, WASH. -- Willamette University won #2 and #3 doubles, then swept all six singles matches, as the Bearcats downed the University of Puget Sound, 8-1, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match, Saturday, March 8 at the UPS Tennis Pavilion. Willamette improved to 3-6 overall and to 3-5 in the NWC. Puget Sound dropped to 2-6 overall, 2-6 in the NWC.

    SALEM, ORE. -- After playing three home matches indoors this season, the Willamette University women's tennis team finally had the chance to play outdoors at the WU Tennis Courts on Friday, March 7. Even so, the weather found a way to halt the match before it was fully completed, but not until the Bearcats achieved an insurmountable lead to defeat Pacific University, 5-0.

L&C improved to 5-3 overall, 5-1 in the NWC, while Willamette fell to 1-6 overall, 1-5 in the conference.

Willamette moved to 1-5 on the season, 1-4 in the Northwest Conference, while GFU dropped to 0-6 overall, 0-5 in the NWC.

Whitworth upped its record to 4-2 overall, 4-1 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette dropped to 0-5 overall, 0-4 in the NWC.

    McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- Linfield College swept the doubles matches, then won five of six singles matches, as the Wildcats defeated Willamette University, 8-1, on Sunday, Feb. 17 at the Linfield Tennis Center. The Wildcats evened their overall record at 2-2, while going to 2-0 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette moved to 0-3 overall, 0-2 in the NWC.

PLU opened its season at 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 0-2 overall, 0-1 in the NWC.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Southern Oregon University won two of three doubles matches, then split the six singles matches, to defeat Willamette University, 5-4, in women's tennis, Friday, Feb. 8 at the Courthouse Tennis Club. The match was the season opener for both teams.
  • Kuenzli of Linfield Wins Singles Title at Wilson/ITA Women's Tennis Regional

    SALEM, ORE. -- Kasey Kuenzli of Linfield College won the singles championship at the Wilson/ITA Women's Tennis Small College Northwest Regional by defeating Amalia Nilsson from Lewis & Clark, 6-4, 6-0 in the finals. The tournament, hosted by Willamette University, began on Friday, Sept. 28 and continued through Sunday, Sept. 30. In doubles, Kuenzli and Sallie Katter of Linfield edged Nilsson and Lisa Harunaga of L&C in the championship match, 9-8 (7-4).
  • Wilson/ITA Women's Tennis Regional Moves into Semifinals

    SALEM, ORE. -- The second day of action in Wilson/ITA Women's Tennis Small College Northwest Regional was held on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Willamette University and the Courthouse Tennis Club in Salem, Ore. Matches in both singles and doubles advanced through the quarterfinals. All of the semifinals are scheduled to be played on Sunday, Sept. 30.
  • Two Rounds of Singles, One Round of Doubles Completed at Wilson/ITA Women's Tennis Regional

    SALEM, ORE. -- It rained at various times on Friday, Sept. 28, but that didn't prevent two rounds of singles and one round of doubles being completed at the Wilson/ITA Women's Tennis Small College Northwest Regional, hosted by Willamette University. Matches were played at the Willamette University Courts as well as indoors at the Courthouse Tennis Club. Action continues on Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 30.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's tennis team is set to host the Wilson/ITA Women's Tennis Small College Northwest Regional, Friday, Sept. 28 through Sunday, Sept. 30 at the WU Tennis Courts and the Salem Tennis Club. In the event of inclement weather, some or all of the competition may be moved to the Courthouse Tennis Club.
  • Willamette Women's Tennis Team Places Five Players on ITA Scholar-Athlete List

    SKILLMAN, N.J. -- Five players on the Willamette University womenâ??s tennis team have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2006-07 season, as selected by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The WU womenâ??s team also qualified for the ITA Team All-Academic Award.
