Poltavski Chosen as NWC Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week

Earns Wins at #1 Singles and #1 Doubles against College of Idaho

SALEM, ORE. -- Denise Poltavski (Sr., Woodland Hills, CA/El Camino Real HS) of Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts against the College of Idaho on Friday, Feb. 13.

Poltavski earned victories at #1 singles and #1 doubles against the Lady Yotes. She defeated Shae Stults in singles without losing a game, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, Poltavski combined with Mikaila Smith (Fr., Mill Valley, CA/Tamalpais HS) for an 8-3 win over Stults and Allie Boyd.

College of Idaho won the overall match 6-3. It was the spring season opener for the Bearcats and the Lady Yotes.

Including her win on Friday, Poltavski has a career singles record of 35-12 during spring competition. Poltavksi was named First Team All-NWC in 2013 and 2014. She was chosen Second Team All-NWC in 2012.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, Feb. 20 with their first Northwest Conference match of the season when they play Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore. Match time is set for 4 p.m. (PST).
