Lewis & Clark Wins Singles and Doubles Titles at Northwest Regional

SALEM, Ore. -- Lewis & Clark College claimed singles and doubles championships at the 2015 USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Women's Tennis Championships on Sunday, Sept. 20, as the three-day tournament concluded at the Willamette University Tennis Courts. Summer Garrison won the singles title for Pioneers, while teammates Christine Eliazo and Claudia Lew claimed the doubles title.

Willamette's top finisher was Mikaila Smith (So., Mill Valley, CA/Tamalpais HS) who reached the Round of 16 in singles.

In the singles championship match, Garrison defeated Ella Riddle from Linfield, 6-2, 7-5. Garrison reached the final by moving past Jenna Dobrin of Whitman in the semifinals, 6-2, 6-1. Riddle advance to the final with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Aurora Garrison of L&C.

Eliazo and Lew prevailed in the doubles final when Summer Garrison and Aurora Garrison had to retire due to an injury during the second set. Eliazo and Lew were leading 7-5, 2-0 when the match ended.

In the doubles semifinals on Saturday, Eliazo and Lew downed Dobrin and Cello Lockwood of Whitman, 8-4, while Garrison and Garrison defeated Kacey Incerpi and Vika O'Brian from Lewis & Clark.

Summer Garrison in singles, and Eliazo and Lew in doubles, will compete at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships, set for Oct. 15-18 in Sumter, South Carolina.

The consolation singles final was won by Lori Sheng of Whitman over Kanani Kea from Pacific, 6-3, 6-2. In the second round singles consolation final -- featuring players who lost in the second round of the main draw -- O'Brien of L&C defeated Lindsey Brodeck of Whtiman in a tie-breaker, 9-8 (7-4).

Ali Diehl and Andrea Motley of George Fox University won the doubles consolation final against Marisa Kume and Lauren Seki of Linfield. Diehl and Motley outlasted Kume and Seki, 8-6.
