Isaacson is Named Honorable Mention All-America in Women's Triathlon

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University women's triathlete Ella Isaacson (Fy., Saint Paul, MN/Central HS) has been chosen Honorable Mention All-America among competitors from NCAA Division III colleges and universities during the 2021 season. Isaacson placed 19th at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon Championships in Tempe, Arizona, on Nov. 13.

The list of All-America selections from NCAA Division III included a total of 21 athletes. Seven competitors were named to the First Team, with seven athletes on the Second Team, and seven athletes receiving Honorable Mention.

Isaacson participated in three regional qualifying events in addition to competing at the Collegiate Championships. She finished 13th overall at the regional qualifier in Wisconsin on Sept. 4, took 17th place at the regional qualifier in Virginia on Oct. 15, and earned fourth place at the regional qualifier in Utah on Oct. 30.

Collegiate triathlon races feature a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike, and a 5-kilometer run. While placing 19th at the Collegiate Championships with a combined time of 1:21:59.3, Isaacson completed the swim in 12:33 and earned times of 41:46 in the bike and 25:29 in the run. She placed 16th in the bike phase.

"Ella had a great first season of collegiate triathlon," Willamette Head Triathlon Coach Brett Franz said. "She was consistent throughout the year, and it is awesome to see her recognized for her race at nationals. She is a great representative of Bearcat triathlon and this honor is well deserved. This is a great way to wrap up the inaugural season for Willamette!"
