Isaacson Finishes 28th and Tuttle is 30th at Women's Triathlon Championships

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Willamette triathlete Ella Isaacson (So., Saint Paul, MN/Central HS) took 28th place and teammate Aubrey Tuttle (Fy., Roseville, CA/Roseville HS) placed 30th in the Division III race at the 2022 Women's Collegiate Triathlon Championships on Sat., Nov. 12 at North Beach Tempe Town Lake. A total of 57 competitors participated in the race. Willamette placed eighth in the team standings. The triathlon featured a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer cycle, and a 5-kilometer run.

Isaacson completed the triathlon in 1:22:22. She was just one minute and 27 seconds out of 20th place. Tuttle registered an overall time of 1:24:09.

In the swim, Isaacson earned a time of 15:38. She completed the bike in 41:36 and finished the run with a time of 26:04. Tuttle was timed at 16:49 in the swim, then achieved a time of 42:46 in the bike, and completed the run in 24:34.

Abbey Staniec (Fy., Stockton, CA/Lincoln HS) of Willamette worked her way through all three phases of the course in 1:29:36, while Ria Martinez (Jr., Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) attained a time of 1:32:04.

Hailey Poe from North Central College (Iowa) won the individual Division III championship. She was credited with times of 10:49  in the swim, 38:23 in the bike, and 20:02 in the run. Her overall time was 1:10:47. Amira Faulkner of Trine University (Ind.) placed second in 1:14:27, while Delaney McPherson from Transylvania University (Ky.) grabbed third place after reaching the finish line nine seconds later at 1:14:36.

Scarlett Schuth of North Central was fourth overall and teammate Bethany Smeed was fifth. Schuth was timed at 1:14:52. Smeed finished one second later in 1:14.53.

The team standings were led by champion North Central College with 215 points. Trine University (Ind.) placed second at 201, and Millikin University (Ill.) was third at 150. Central College (Iowa) finished fourth with 140 points, while Eastern Mennonite University held fifth place at 134 points. Calvin College (Iowa) was sixth with 121 points and Transylvania placed seventh at 115. Willamette was eighth at 86 points. Completing the final leaderboard were Concordia University placing ninth at 81, Coe College (Iowa) was 10th with 34 points, Greensboro College (N.C.) placed 11th with 26 points. Guilford College (N.C.) was 12th with 14 points.
