Bearcats compete at the Newport Harbor Triathlon
NEWPORT, Ore. – The Willamette University Bearcats Triathlon team finished just one point behind Humboldt State University at the Newport Harbor Triathlon on Saturday, September 28, 2025. Willamette had an impressive showing in the individual race, placing four athletes in the top seven and all scoring athletes in the top 13.
Natalie Thomas led the way for the Bearcats, finishing in 3rd place with a total time of . Thomas had the fastest transition 2 (T2) time of all Willamette athletes at . Close behind Thomas were Sofie Szigeti in 4th place () and Kalima Glascott in 5th place (). Glascott set the pace for Willamette in the water with the team's fastest swim split of . Abbey Staniec rounded out the top finishers for Willamette, taking 7th place with a time of . Charlotte Andrews achieved the fastest run split on the team, completing the 5k run in a blistering , helping her to a 14th-place finish.
