  • Five Bearcats Receive All-Academic Honors in Cross Country

    SALEM, ORE. -- A total of five athletes on the Willamette University cross country teams have received All-Academic status from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2012 season. Three runners on the Willamette women's team and two runners from the Bearcat men's team qualified for the award.

    TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Parker Bennett (Jr., Sisters, OR/Sisters HS) from Willamette University placed 97th out of 280 runners in the men's 8-kilometer race at the 2012 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the LaVern Gibson Course. Bennett achieved a time of 25:41.0.

Both the Willamette men's and women's cross country teams held onto the #3 rankings in the West Region.

    WINNECONNE, WIS. -- Led by Michaela Freeby (So., Milwaukie, OR/Rec Putnam HS), who took 20th out of 500 runners, the Willamette University women's cross country team placed eighth out of 37 teams at the Brooks Invitational in Wisconsin. The event was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The event, which featured many of the top teams in NCAA Division III, was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
