SALEM, ORE. -- Senior runner Parker Bennett (Sisters, OR/Sisters HS) of Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Brooks Invitational in Winneconne, Wis., this past weekend.

Bennett placed 21st out of 566 athletes competing in the men's 8-kilometer race. He achieved a time of 25:09.34. Bennett's solid race helped the Bearcats place 12th overall out of 37 men's teams entered in the meet.

The Brooks Invitational, which was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, included many of the top NCAA Division III teams. The meet was held at the Lake Breeze Golf Club.

Bennett has recorded two solid and consistent times in his two races this season. In addition to his 25:09.34 at the Brooks Invitational, he placed ninth at the 39th Annual Charles Bowles Invitational on Oct. 5 with a time of 25:06.94.

Willamette's next competition will be the Northwest Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Spokane, Wash. The women's 6-kilometer race and the men's 8-kilometer race will take place at the Downriver Golf Course. Last year, Willamette achieved the NWC men's cross country team title, while Bennett won the individual championship.

Parker Bennett took 21st place at the Brooks Invitational to lead the Bearcats to 12th place in the team standings.
