Bearcats and Bruins to Play Softball at Willamette on Thursday and Saturday

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University and George Fox University will play their four-game Northwest Conference softball series at the WU Softball Field on Thursday, April 7 and Saturday, April 9. Each day will feature a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. (PDT). The series was originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, but has been changed to avoid wet weather in the forecast for the weekend.

The Bearcats are 8-22 on the season and 5-15 in the NWC. Willamette has played in 16 games decided by one run, two runs, or in extra innings. The Bruins are 22-10 overall and 14-6 in the NWC.

Top hitters for the Bearcats are Marykate DeLuca (Jr., C, San Diego, CA/San Diego International Studies), Carrie Dose (So., 1B/P, Eugene, OR/Churchill HS/Buena Vista Univ.), Mia Lund (So., OF, Omaha, NE/Westside HS), Brianna Majors (Jr., SS/2B, San Diego, CA/Cathedral Catholic HS), and Cassie Cosler (Sr., 1B, Albany, OR/West Albany HS). DeLuca is batting .367 and is tied for the team lead with 15 RBIs. Dose is hitting .364 and has a .462 on-base percentage. Lund owns a .344 batting avreage with a team-high 28 runs scored. Majors is hitting .283 with 18 runs and a tema-leading 10 doubles. Cosler has a .279 batting average and is tied with DeLuca for first on the team with 15 RBIs. Lund and Cosler are tied for the team lead with three home runs.
