  • Schulze Completes Outstanding NWC Meet with Third Place Finish in 200 Backstroke

    FEDERAL WAY, WASH. -- Willamette University senior Gwen Schulze (Sr., Silverdale, WA/Central Kitsap HS/Austin College) completed a tremendous weekend at the Northwest Conference Swimming Championships by taking third place in the finals of the women's 200-yard backstroke with a career-best time of 2:12.78 on Sunday, Feb. 14. The NWC Championships, which were held at the King County Aquatic Center, began on Friday (Feb. 12) and ended with Sunday's evening session.

    FEDERAL WAY, WASH. -- Gwen Schulze (Sr., Silverdale, WA/Central Kitsap HS/Austin College) of Willamette University finished second in the preliminary round of the women's 100-yard butterfly with a career-best time of 1:00.66 to advance to the Championship Finals at the Northwest Conference Swimming Championships on Saturday, Feb. 13. Four other Willamette swimmers advance to the Consolation Finals of their respective events on the second day of the NWC Meet.

    FEDERAL WAY, WASH. -- Willamette University concluded action at the first day of the Northwest Conference Swimming Championships on Friday, Feb. 12. The Whitworth men, aiming for an eighth consecutive NWC title, hold a 226-180 lead over second-place the University of Puget Sound. The Whitworth women are currently 36 points in front of the University of Puget Sound, 236-200.

    FEDERAL WAY, WASH. -- Willamette University senior Gwen Schulze (Silverdale, WA/Central Kitsap HS/Austin College) took second place in the Championship Final of the 100-yard butterfly with the fourth-fastest time in school history at the Northwest Conference Swimming Championships on Saturday, Feb. 13. Schulze earned her second place finish with a time of 1:00.26.

    FEDERAL WAY, WASH. -- Willamette University swimmers Lauren Ballinger, Gwen Schulze and Jenna Larrow advanced to the consolation finals on the first day of the Northwest Conference Championships at the King County Aquatic Center on Friday, Feb. 12. Consolation finals in today's events are being held tonight. Action will continue with additional events on Saturday and Sunday.

    TACOMA, WASH. -- Pacific Lutheran University was victorious over Willamette University in men's and women's swimming on Saturday, Jan. 30, in the final dual meet of the season for both Northwest Conference members. The PLU women's team defeated the Bearcats, 126-73, while the Lute men's team downed Willamette, 85-9.

    FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- The Pacific University swim teams swept a Northwest Conference dual meet from Willamette University on Friday, Jan. 29. Pacific defeated the Bearcats, 113.5 to 76.5 in the women's competition, while the Boxer men downed Willamette, 72-16.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Linfield College swept Willamette University in Northwest Conference swimming action on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the WU Natatorium. The Wildcats defeated the Willamette women's team, 127-77, and won the men's competition, 135-10.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Whitman College defeated Willamette University in Northwest Conference men's and women's swimming action on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the WU Natatorium. The Missionaries were victorious in the women's competition, 146-50, while the Whitman men's team won, 60-20.
  • Bearcats Complete Winter Training in Fort Lauderdale

    FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. -- The Willamette University swimming teams have returned to Salem, Ore., following a week of training in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In addition to practicing, the Bearcats also competed in the 2010 CSCAA Bob Mowerson Swim Meet on Jan. 7. The meet was held in Ford Lauderdale on a metric long course.
  • Whitworth Defeats Bearcats in NWC Swimming

    SALEM, ORE. -- Whitworth University defeated Willamette University in men's and women's swimming on Friday, Jan. 15 at the WU Natatorium. In the women's competition, Whitworth downed the Bearcats, 137-57. In the men's competition, the Pirates were victorious, 59-11.

    TACOMA, WASH. -- The University of Puget Sound swimming teams defeated Willamette University in Northwest Conference action on Saturday, Nov. 7. Puget Sound's women downed the Bearcats, 167-86. The Logger men's team was victorious over Willamette by a final score of 184-49.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's swimming team opened its Northwest Conference dual match schedule with a 104-95 victory over Lewis & Clark College on Friday, Nov. 6 at Cone Field House. Willamette is 1-0 on the season, 1-0 in the NWC. Lewis & Clark dropped to 0-1, 0-1 in the NWC.
