Hennum Places Ninth in Mile at Whitworth Invitational

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Willamette University men's track and field team traveled to the eastern edge of the State of Washington to compete in the Whitworth University Indoor Invitational on Saturday, February 10. The Bearcats had some strong performances in the 33-team field.

Junior William Hennum (Henderson, NV/Liberty HS) registered a top 10 showing in the mile, as he placed ninth overall with a time of 4:24.37.

Elijah Jones (Salem, OR/Central HS) posted a season-best in the pole vault, clearing a height of 15' 3.75" to capture 10th place. Classmate Kaleb Mcarthur (Independence, OR/Central HS) went 40' 5.5" in the triple jump to place 14th.

Sophomores Jonas Cherry (Browns Valley, CA/Marysville HS) and Mason Williams (Happy Valley, OR/Clackamas HS) turned in a season-best and a personal-best, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdle prelims. Cherry was 11th in the trials with a mark of 9.01 seconds with Williams just behind in 12th at 9.02. The top eight advanced to the finals.

First-year runner Myles Crandall (Monmouth, OR/Central HS) cracked the top 20 in the 400-meter run, finishing 19th with a time of 51.23 seconds.

The Bearcats travel to George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, on Saturday, February 17 for the Bruins' second indoor invitational of the season.
