Bearcats Have Strong Showing at George Fox Invitational #2

NEWBERG, Ore. – The Willamette University men's track and field team returned to George Fox University for the Bruins' second indoor invitational of the season. The meet primarily consisted of sprints and field events.

Mason McMillin (Fy., Lake Stevens, WA/Lake Stevens HS) won the 60-meter hurdle event with a career-best time of 8.55 seconds. Classmate Matthew Nivala (Fy., Salem, OR/West Salem HS) placed fourth with a time of 9.01. Jonas Cherry (So., Browns Valley, CA/Marysville HS) and Mason Williams (So., Happy Valley, OR/Clackamas HS) crossed the line sixth and seventh, respectively, with marks of 9.05 and 9.06.

First-year Mason Fitzwater (Snohomish, WA/Monroe HS) cleared a height of 12' 7.5" to place third in the pole vault. Kaleb Mcarthur (So., Independence, OR/Central HS) finished eighth in the long jump, posting a distance of 20' 5.75". Roan Bashioum (Fy., Salem, OR/North Salem) had a top 10 showing in the weight throw, claiming ninth with a toss of 36' 5.75".

The Bearcats next compete on March 2, hosting the Willamette Opener at the Charles Bowles Track. The first event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. PST.
