Wong Loses to #5 Seed in Round of 16 at Ojai Tournament
April 24, 2010OJAI, CALIF. -- Willamette University freshman Joshua Wong (Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) was defeated by #5-seeded Marc Vartabedian from the University of California-Santa Cruz in the Round of 16 in the NCAA Division III Men's Singles bracket at the Ojai Valley Tournament on Saturday, April 24. Vartabedian downed Wong in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. -
Bearcats Fall to Quality Opponents in First Round of Doubles
April 23, 2010OJAI, CALIF. -- Willamette University's two doubles teams competing at the Ojai Valley Tournament received challenging draws in the Men's NCAA Division III Doubles bracket and lost to quality opponents in the first round on Friday, April 23. The Bearcats were matched against one team from the University of California-Santa Cruz and one team from Claremont-Mudd Scripps. UC-Santa Cruz is the defending NCAA Division III team champion and CMS is ranked #1 in the West Region this spring.

April 23, 2010OJAI, CALIF. -- Joshua Wong (Fr., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) of Willamette University advanced into the Round of 16 in the Men's NCAA Division III Singles bracket at the Ojai Valley Tournament by defeating a seeded opponent in the second round on Friday, April 23. Wong downed #9-seeded Jeffrey Tolman from Northwest Conference rival Whitman College, 6-4, 6-1.

WU improved to 12-7 overall, while UPS ended its season at 5-12.

Linfield moved to 12-5 overall, 12-2 in the Northwest Conference. WU dropped to 9-7, 9-5 in the NWC.

March 28, 2010SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's tennis team rolled past a depleted Lewis & Clark College squad, 9-0, on Sunday, March 28 at the Courthouse Tennis Club. The Bearcats, ranked #11 in the NCAA Division III West Region, improved to 9-5 overall, 9-3 in the Northwest Conference. L&C, which competed with just four players due to illness and injury, ended the day at 0-16 overall, 0-14 in the NWC.

The Bearcats are 5-0 in the NWC, narrowly in front of two other undefeated teams, Linfield College at 4-0 and Whitman College at 3-0. Lewis & Clark fell to 0-7 in the conference.
