    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University freshman tennis player Donovan LeDoux (Keizer, OR/McNary HS) has been named First Team All-Northwest Conference for his efforts during the 2006-07 season. LeDoux was one of eight menâ??s tennis players selected for the First Team. An additional six players earned Second Team honors.

    YAKIMA, WASH. -- Linfield College fell behind in the doubles matches, but earned wins at the bottom four singles positions, to take a 5-4 victory over Willamette University for third place at the Northwest Conference Tennis Championships on Saturday, April 21. Linfield concluded its season at 15-12, while Willamette finished the year at 10-12.
  • Bearcats are Ready for NWC Championship Action in Tennis, Track and Field, Men's Golf

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University will be competing in NWC championship events this weekend in men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and men's golf. The NWC Tennis Championsnhips will be played in Yakima, Wash., on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21. Additional conference titles will be determined at the NWC Track and Field Championships in Tacoma, Wash., also on Friday and Saturday. The NWC Championship tournament in men's golf will begin on Sunday, April 22 and conclude on Monday, April 23 at the Tokatee Golf Club in Blue River, Ore.
  • Willamette Edges Puget Sound in First Round of NWC Championships

    YAKIMA, WASH. -- For the Willamette University men's tennis team, the third time was the charm, as the Bearcats defeated the University of Puget Sound, 5-4, in the first round of the Northwest Conference Tennis Championships on Friday, April 20. Puget Sound won both regular season meetings by 5-4 scores, and earned the tournament's #4 seed as a results. Willamette was seeded #5.
  • Willamette Loses to Linfield, 6-3

    McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- Linfield College won four of six singles matches on its way to a 6-3 victory over Willamette University, in Northwest Conference action on Sunday, April 15. Willamette was victorious at #1 and #2 singles, but Linfield swept the other four singles matches to clinch the win. The match concluded the regular season for both teams, as the Wildcats moved to 13-11 overall, 12-4 in the NWC, and Willamette went to 9-10 on the season, 8-8 in the NWC.
  • Puget Sound Edges Willamette, 5-4, in Preview of NWC Tournament

    SALEM, ORE. -- Two evenly matched teams battled throughout the lineup, before the visiting University of Puget Sound edged Willamette University, 5-4, in Northwest Conference men's tennis action on Saturday, April 14 at the Courthouse Tennis Club. The match was a preview of next week's NWC Tournament, where the teams will meet for the third time this season.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's tennis team swept past George Fox University, 9-0, at the WU Tennis Courts on Friday, April 13. The Northwest Conference victory improved the Bearcats to 9-8 on the season, including 8-6 against conference opponents. Willamette has won six of its last seven matches. GFU fell to 4-11 overall, with every match in the NWC.
  • Willamette Men's Tennis Team Defeats Lewis & Clark, 8-1

    PORTLAND, ORE. -- Willamette University won a Northwest Conference men's tennis match at Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, April 7 to even the Bearcats' overall record at 8-8 for the season. Willamette improved to 7-6 in the NWC, as WU moved a full win in front of the University of Puget Sound (6-7) for fourth place in the standings. Lewis & Clark fell to 3-11 on the season, with all 14 matches in NWC play.
  • Willamette and Linfield Move Tennis Match to April 15

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University and Linfield College men's tennis teams have moved their Northwest Conference match in McMinnville, Ore., to Sunday, April 15 at 5 p.m. (PDT). Originally, the match was scheduled for the Easter holiday on Sunday, April 8.

    (MEN'S TENNIS) SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University defeated Pacific University, 9-0, at the WU Tennis Courts on Sunday, April 1, as the Bearcats moved into a tie with the University of Puget Sound for fourth place in the Northwest Conference standings. Willamette, now 6-6 in the NWC, also improved to 7-8 on the season. Pacific dropped to 0-11, both overall and in NWC play.

    (MEN'S TENNIS) WHITTIER, CALIF. -- The Willamette University Bearcats won all three doubles matches, then recorded victories in four of six singles flights, to defeat Whittier College, 7-2, on Thursday, March 29. The match was originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, but was postponed due to the weather.

    (MEN'S TENNIS) COSTA MESA, CALIF. -- Willamette University split the singles matches and won all three doubles matches, as the Bearcats defeated Orange Coast College (juco), 6-3, in an exhibition match on Wednesday, March 28. The NCAA does not count matches against junior colleges in official records. Willamette, which competes in NCAA Division III, remained 5-8 on the season.

    (MEN'S TENNIS) COSTA MESA, CALIF. -- Vanguard University, ranked #6 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), defeated visiting Willamette University, 9-0, on Monday, March 26. The Lions won all three doubles matches, then recorded all six singles wins in straight sets.

    (MEN'S TENNIS) SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University freshmen Donovan LeDoux (Keizer, OR/McNary HS) and Ethan Heinrich (San Carlos, CA/Davis HS) rallied from a 7-4 deficit at #2 doubles to take a 9-8 (7-2) victory, then won competitive singles matches involving additional tie-breakers to lead the Bearcats over visiting Whitworth College, 6-3, in a Northwest Conference match on Saturday, March 17. With the win, the Bearcats improved to 5-7 overall, 5-6 in the NWC. Whitworth fell to 2-8 overall, including 2-6 in the NWC.
  • Willamette Downs George Fox by 8-1 Margin in Rescheduled NWC Match

    (MEN'S TENNIS) NEWBERG, ORE. -- Willamette University defeated George Fox University, 8-1, on Thursday, March 15 in a rescheduled Northwest Conference men's tennis match originally slated for last Friday (March 9). The Bearcats improved to 4-7 overall, 4-6 in the NWC, while the Bruins fell to 2-6 overall, 2-6 in the NWC.

    (MENâ??S TENNIS) TACOMA, WASH. -- The University of Puget Sound took two of three doubles matches, then won the first three singles matches, as the Loggers defeated Willamette University, 5-4, in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match at the Puget Sound Tennis Pavilion on Saturday, March 10. Puget Sound improved to 5-7 overall and to 5-6 in the NWC. Willamette dropped to 3-7 on the season, 3-6 in the NWC.

    (MEN'S TENNIS) SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University freshman Donovan LeDoux (Keizer, OR/McNary HS) rallied for a victory over Ian McGrath of Linfield College, but the Wildcats won three close matches of the their own to claim an 8-1 team victory over the Bearcats in Northwest Conference action at the Willamette University Tennis Courts. The match originally was scheduled to be played at the Courthouse Tennis Club in Salem, but improved weather allowed the teams to play outdoors. Linfield improved to 6-3 in the NWC, while upping its overall record to 7-7. Willamette fell to 3-6 overall, 3-5 in the NWC.
  • Bearcats Win Four Singles Matches in 6-3 Victory over Lewis & Clark

    (MEN'S TENNIS) SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University earned victories in four singles positions, as the Bearcats claimed a 6-3 win over Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, March 3 at the Courthouse Tennis Club. WU also claimed triumphs at #2 doubles and #3 doubles, while improving to 3-5 overall, 3-4 in the NWC. Lewis & Clark fell to 2-3 overall, with all five matches in the NWC.
  • Willamette Battles Whitman, but Missionaries Win Five Close Matches in 9-0 Sweep

    (MEN'S TENNIS) SALEM, ORE. -- Whitman College, ranked 16th in NCAA Division III, recorded a 9-0 victory over Willamette University on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Courthouse Tennis Club. Although the Missionaries won every position, two of the doubles wins and three of the singles wins were earned in highly-competitive matches. Whitman improved to 10-2 overall, 9-0 in the Northwest Conference, while Willamette fell to 2-5 overall, 2-4 in the NWC. Two of Willamette's five losses have been to the Missionaries.
  • Pacific Lutheran Defeats Willamette Twice in Doubleheader of Tennis Matches

    (MEN'S TENNIS) SALEM, ORE. -- Pacific Lutheran University lost the #1 doubles match and faced strong opposition in the first set at #4, #5 and #6 singles, but the Lutes held of Willamette University for an 8-1 win in the first match of a doubleheader, Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Courthouse Tennis Club. In the second match, Pacific Lutheran defeated Willamette by an identical 8-1 score. The wins allowed PLU to improve to 4-3 overall and moved the Lutes into sole possession of second place in the Northwest Conference at 4-1. The Bearcats dropped to 2-4 on the season, 2-3 in the NWC. In the dayâ??s first match, Willametteâ??s top doubles team of Donovan LeDoux (Fr., Keizer, OR/McNary HS) and Eric MacMillan (Jr., Twin Falls, ID/Twin Falls HS) edged PLUâ??s #1 team of Jeff Loranger and Justin Peterson, 9-8, after winning a tie-breaker 7-5 to decide the pro set. LeDoux and MacMillan trailed 7-6 during the set, but won back-to-back games to take an 8-7 lead. PLU won the next game to force the tie-breaker. In the tie-breaker, the Lutes took a 5-3 lead, but LeDoux and MacMillan won four consecutive points to win the match.

    (MEN'S TENNIS) TUALATIN, ORE. -- The Willamette University menâ??s tennis team won every singles match and every doubles match against Pacific University for a 9-0 victory in Northwest Conference action on Friday, Feb. 23 at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Club. Willamette improved to 2-2 on the season, including 2-1 in the NWC. Pacific lost for the third time in as many dual matches, all in the NWC.

    (MEN'S TENNIS) WALLA WALLA, WASH. -- Whitman College, ranked 16th in NCAA Division III, swept a Northwest Conference menâ??s tennis match from Willamette University, 9-0, on Saturday, Feb. 17 in Walla Walla, Wash. The Missionaries improved to 5-1 overall, including 5-0 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 1-1 overall (result vs. Colorado College not yet available). The Bearcats are also 1-1 in the NWC.
  • Willamette Wins Men's Tennis Opener 7-2 against Northwest Conference Foe Whitworth

    SPOKANE, WASH. -- The Willamette University menâ??s tennis team opened its spring season with a 7-2 win over Whitworth College on Friday, Feb. 16 in Spokane, Wash. Willamette won #1 and #3 doubles, then claimed victories in five of six singles flights. It was a significant early season win for the Bearcats, who lost to Whitworth twice in 2006, with the Pirates finishing fifth in the NWC regular season standings and the Bearcats finishing sixth.
  • Mack Wins First Round Match, Falls in Round of 32 at ITA Northwest Regional in Men's Tennis

    WALLA WALLA, WASH. Willamette University menâ??s tennis player Micah Mack rallied from a loss in the opening set to win his first round match at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northwest Regional, but fell in the second round, as the Bearcatsâ?? six singles players and three doubles teams were eliminated from the bracket on the first day of competition, Sept. 22 in Walla Walla, Wash. The ITA Northwest Regional, hosted by Whitman College, will continue on Saturday, Sept. 23.
