  • Lee Repeats as ITA Scholar-Athlete for Third Year in a Row

    SALEM, ORE. -- Gunnar Lee (Hilo, HI/St. Joseph School), who recently completed his junior season on the Willamette University men 's tennis team, has been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete for 2014-15. It is the third year in a row that Lee has earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University's Jack Schreiber (Jr., Solana Beach, CA/The Grauer School) has been named Second Team All-Northwest Conference for the 2014-15 season in voting by the NWC head coaches. It is the second consecutive season that Schreiber has been chosen for Second Team All-NWC recognition.

    SALEM, Ore. -- Pacific University, ranked #10 in the West Region of NCAA Division III, won two singles matches in super tie-breakers played instead of a third set, as the Boxers completed a 9-0 victory over Willamette University in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Saturday, April 18. Pacific upped its record to 13-5 overall and to 9-2 in the NWC.

    SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University gained wins throughout the singles lineup on its way to an 8-1 victory over Linfield College at the WU Tennis Courts on Friday, April 17. The match was originally scheduled for April 14, but was postponed due to the weather.

    SALEM, Ore. --In the final weekend of the 2015 spring season, the Willamette University men's tennis team will take on Pacific University (Ore.) on Saturday, April 18 and George Fox University on Sunday, April 19. The Saturday match is the Bearcats' senior day and will be at the WU Tennis Courts at 1 p.m. (PDT), while Sunday's match will be on the road at George Fox, also at 1 p.m.

    SALEM, Ore. -- The Northwest Conference men's tennis match between Willamette University and Linfield College scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 has been postponed due to the weather. Rain in Salem cleared up just a bit too late for the Bearcats and the Wildcats to play at the WU Tennis Courts.

With the victory, the Pirates improved to 4-10 on the season, 4-6 in the NWC. Willamette slipped to 3-12 overall, 3-6 in the NWC.

WU trailed just 2-1 after doubles, but LCSC's success in singles gave the Warriors room in the final score.
