The All-Region selections were divided into three teams with a total of 45 athletes chosen from throughout the region.

Whitworth then held off Willamette in the second game, building an 8-4 lead that almost disappeared, before the Pirates won the second game, 8-6.

Pacific Lutheran Sweeps Doubleheader from BearcatsMarch 29, 2013SALEM, ORE -- Pacific Lutheran University swept a doubleheader from the Willamette University Bearcats on Friday, March 29, as the Lutes won 10-2 and 7-2 at the WU Softball Field. In the first game, PLU blasted four home runs, including two by first baseman Amanda Hall. In the second game, pitcher Kaaren Hatlen threw a two-hitter for the Lutes.

WU rolled past Gustavus Adolphus, 13-4, in the consolation semifinals, before defeating Alma, 5-1, in the consolation championship game.

The Bearcats, who compete in NCAA Division III, dropped games to NAIA teams from the Oregon Institute of Technology and Concordia University. OIT defeated the Bearcats, 9-0, on the run rule in five innings, while Concordia won 8-3.Â

The Bearcats, who compete in NCAA Division III, dropped games to NAIA teams from the College of Idaho and crosstown rival Corban University. College of Idaho defeated the Bearcats, 3-0, while Corban won 14-3 on the run rule in five innings.

2013 Willamette Softball Season OutlookFebruary 14, 2013SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University softball team, which will feature a young roster this season, achieved a 21-15 overall record in 2012, including 19-9 in the Northwest Conference (3rd place). Willametteâ??s conference record included a 2-0 road upset of then top-ranked Linfield College on April 14. The Bearcats also qualified for the four-team NWC tournament.
