  • Kosderka Named Oregon Class 5A Baseball Coach of the Year

    SALEM, ORE. -- Former Willamette University pitcher Matt Kosderka ('98) has been named by The Oregonian newspaper as the Class 5A Baseball Coach of the Year for the 2011 season. Kosderka led Wilsonville High School to a Class 5A state runner-up finish in the Oregon State Activities Association (OSAA) playoffs.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior left fielder T.C. Lee (Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS) has been named Honorable Mention All-America by D3baseball.com for the 2011 season. Lee was Willamette's leader on offense this season with a .417 batting average, a .785 slugging percentage, 44 runs, 44 RBIs and 12 home runs.

Lee (Sr., LF, Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS) from the Willamette University baseball team has been chosen First Team All-West Region for the 2011 season by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). A total of 15 players received First Team honors, with one designated hitter, nine field players and five pitchers selected.

Lee (Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS) and senior catcher Max Stepan (Pueblo, CO/Pueblo County HS) have been named First Team All-Northwest Conference for the 2011 baseball season in voting by the league's head coaches. Two Willamette players were chosen for the Second Team and four Bearcats received Honorable Mention.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior left fielder T.C. Lee (Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS) has been chosen Northwest Conference Baseball Hitter Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in games during the week ending May 1. Lee batted .529 (9 of 17) in Willamette's four games, helping the Bearcats go 3-1 with a victory over crosstown rival Corban University and two wins in three games against the University of Puget Sound.

WU pulled within 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth, but the Loggers added two runs in the ninth.

Whitworth ended the day with an 18-19 overall record, including 11-10 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 19-16-1 overall, 10-11 in the NWC.
