  • Skelly Named to Scholar All-West Region Team by NSCAA

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior midfielder Stephanie Skelly (Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) has been named to the Women's College Scholar All-West Region Second Team for the 2011 season, as chosen by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
  • Willamette Women's Soccer Receives Team Academic Award

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's soccer team has received the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 academic year as recently announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. A total of 572 women's soccer teams, representing all three NCAA divisions, the NAIA and junior colleges, earned the Team Academic Award, which requires a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative team grade point average.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Senior midfielder Stephanie Skelly (Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) from Willamette University has been chosen Second Team All-West Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). At total of 40 athletes received All-West Region honors, with 12 on the First Team, 14 on the Second Team and 14 on the Third Team.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior midfielder Stephanie Skelly (Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) has been selected First Team Capital One Academic All-America in NCAA Division III women's soccer for the 2011 season, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Only 12 players nationwide were chosen for the First Team, with 11 named to the Second Team and 10 on the Third Team.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Stephanie Skelly (Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS), a senior midfielder at Willamette University, has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year for 2011, as determined in voting by the NWC head coaches. In addition, Willamette Head Coach Hillary Arthur has been named NWC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.

    FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Willamette University pulled into a 1-1 tie with Pacific University on a goal in the 53rd minute, but the Boxers tallied a goal 59 seconds later, as the Boxers edged the Bearcats, 2-1, in a Northwest Conference women's soccer game on Sunday, Oct. 30.

    NEWBERG, ORE. -- Stephanie Skelly (Sr., MF, Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) kept up her rapid scoring pace with two goals and an assist on Saturday, Oct. 29, as Willamette University shut out George Fox University, 3-0, at the Austin Sports Complex. The Bearcats improved to 10-6-1 overall and to 9-3-1 in the Northwest Conference, as WU remained within one point of the league co-leaders at the University of Puget Sound and Linfield College.
  • Skelly Chosen NWC Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior midfielder Stephanie Skelly (Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the week for her success in games on Saturday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 23. She has received the award a total of three times this season.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Senior midfielder Stephanie Skelly (Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) scored two goals in the second half, including the game-winner with 21 seconds remaining, to lead the Willamette University Bearcats to a 2-1 victory over the University of Puget Sound on Sunday, Oct. 10 at Sparks Field. Willamette upped its record to 9-6-1 for the season, 8-3-1 in Northwest Conference play. UPS fell to 10-3-2 overall, 8-2-2 in the NWC.
  • Willamette Rolls Past Pacific Lutheran, 5-1

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University gave up an early goal following a defensive turnover, but the Bearcats rallied to tie the game before halftime and pulled away with four goals in the second half for a 5-1 victory over Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday, Oct. 22. Paige Lancourt (So., MF, Eagle, Idaho/Eagle HS) scored a goal and provided two assists for the Bearcats, while the team's leading scorer, Stephanie Skelly (Sr., MF, Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS), contributed a goal and an assist.

    PORTLAND, ORE. -- Stephanie Skelly (Sr., MF, Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) scored two goals and the Willamette University defense allowed just nine shots -- only two on goal -- as the Bearcats shut out Lewis & Clark, 3-0, on Sunday, Oct. 16 at Griswold Stadium. WU moved above .500 for the season at 7-6-1 and improved to 6-3-1 in the Northwest Conference. L&C dropped to 2-12-2, 1-10-1 in the NWC.
  • Linfield Edges Past Willamette in Overtime, 1-0

    SALEM, ORE. -- Christine Tamamoto scored on a rising line-drive shot from 24 yards out with 2:30 remaining in the first overtime, sending Linfield College to a 1-0 victory over Willamette University in Northwest Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 15. The Wildcats improved to 10-2-2 on the season, 7-1-2 in the NWC. Willamette moved to 6-6-1,  including 5-3-1 in the NWC.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Senior midfielder Stephanie Skelly (Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) of Willamette University has been named Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the week for the second consecutive week. She earned the most recent award for her efforts in Willamette's games at Whitman College on Oct. 8 and at Whitworth University on Oct. 9.

    SPOKANE, WASH. -- Whitworth University received goals from Chloe Cook, Sarah Berentson and Jackie Day as the Pirates outscored Willamette University, 3-1, in a Northwest Conference women's soccer game on Sunday, Oct. 9. The Pirates evened their overall record at 4-4-2, while improving to 4-2-2 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 6-5-1 overall, 5-2-1 in the NWC.

    McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- Stephanie Skelly (Sr., MF, Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) scored two goals and Sarah Desautels (Fr., F, Snohomish, WA/Glacier Peak HS) added a goal and an assist, leading Willamette University to a 3-1 victory over Northwest Conference rival Linfield College on Sunday, Sept. 25. WU led 2-0 before Linfield cut the margin to a single goal. Skelly tacked on an insurance goal with just under six minutes remaining.
  • Bearcats Earn 22 Shots against Lewis & Clark in 0-0 Tie with Pioneers

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette outshot Lewis & Clark, 22-6 overall and 13-2 in shots on goal, but L&C goalkeeper Elise Delgado made 11 saves to keep WU off the scoreboard, as the teams battled to a 0-0 tie in two overtimes on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Sparks Field.
  • Standish Scores Twice as Willamette Downs Pacific Lutheran, 3-1

    TACOMA, WASH. -- Kellie Standish (Fr., MF, Redmond, WA/Eastside Catholic HS) scored two goals and Stephanie Skelly (Sr., MF, Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) provided a goal and an assist, as Willamette University defeated Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday, Sept. 18 at the PLU Field. Willamette moved to 2-4 overall, 1-1 in the NWC, while Pacific Lutheran dropped to 2-2 on the season, 1-1 in the NWC.
  • Nationally Ranked Puget Sound Downs Willamette, 4-0

    TACOMA, WASH. -- Senior midfielder Christine Isabella scored three goals and earned an assist to lead the nationally ranked University of Puget Sound women's soccer team past Willamette University, 4-0, in a Northwest Conference game on Saturday, Sept. 17. UPS, ranked #21 in the D3soccer.com Top 25, improved to 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in the NWC. Willamette went to 1-4 overall, 0-1 in the NWC.
  • Bearcats Down Occidental, 2-1

    LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- Willamette University outscored Occidental College 2-1 in the first half, then held the Tigers scoreless over the final 45 minutes, as the Bearcats claimed a road victory on Sunday, Sept. 11. The Bearcats, who opened the season with three one-goal losses, picked up a one-goal win of their own to improve to 1-3. Occidental dropped to 0-2.
  • Redlands Slips Past Bearcats in Overtime, 2-1

    REDLANDS, CALIF. -- The University of Redlands (Calif.) received a goal from Kaily Benenati 2:57 into overtime to send the Bulldogs to a 2-1 victory over visiting Willamette University in women's soccer action on Friday, Sept. 9. Redlands, ranked #24 in the D3soccer.com Preseason Top 25, improved to 2-0-1. Willamette fell to 0-3-0 with all three losses by a single goal.
  • Willamette is Sixth in NWC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's soccer team is listed sixth in the 2011 Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, according to votes cast by the NWC's head coaches. University of Puget Sound was picked to win its 10th consecutive NWC title.
