Mitchell Competes for Washington Generals against Harlem Globetrotters
July 31, 2010SALEM, ORE. -- Former Willamette University men's basketball player Cameron Mitchell '10 (Post, Portland, OR/Grant HS) is competing for the Washington Generals against the Harlem Globetrotters in a series of games in Mexico. The six-game trip will end on Sunday (Aug 1) with a game at the Domo de la Feria in Leon, located on the Baja Peninsula. -
Bearcats Announce Men's Basketball Recruiting Class for 2010-11

Mitchell, who is playing with the Salem Stampede while completing his Willamette degree, was chosen for the award, along with Mac Hopson of the Portland Showtime.

Mitchell Named All-West Region and Chosen as a Finalist for the Jostens Trophy
March 17, 2010SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University men's basketball senior post Cameron Mitchell (Portland, OR/Grant HS/Univ. of Redlands) has been named All-West Region by two organizations for his outstanding play during the 2009-10 season. He also was a finalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy given each year to the top NCAA Division III player according to athletic accomplishments, community service and academic success.

Mitchell led the NWC in scoring and rebounding. He averaged 21.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.

February 20, 2010SALEM, ORE. -- Cameron Mitchell (Sr., Post, Portland, OR/Grant HS/Univ. of Redlands) fouled out with 2:57 left in his final basketball game for Willamette University on Saturday, Feb. 20, but not until he scored 23 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and earned four assists. Mitchell's efforts led Willamette to a 95-86 victory at Cone Field House over visiting Pacific University.

Bearcat Hoop Game Night: Willamette Concludes Season against Lutes and Boxers
February 19, 2010SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's basketball team will conclude the 2009-10 season with a pair of Northwest Conference games this weekend, as the Bearcats take on Pacific Lutheran University on the road and Pacific University at home. WU will begin the weekend by battling PLU in Tacoma, Wash., on Friday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. (PST). The Bearcats will close out the season on Saturday, Feb. 20 by hosting Pacific at 8 p.m. at Cone Field House.

Willamette Finishes Strong to Pull Away from PLU, 80-58
February 19, 2010TACOMA, WASH. -- Willamette University built a big first-half lead, but saw the lead reduced to three points with 8:43 left, before the Bearcats closed the game with a 28-9 run to rout Pacific Lutheran University, 80-58, on Friday, Feb. 19 at Olson Auditorium. WU upped its record to 8-16 overall, 5-10 in the NWC, while PLU fell to 8-14 overall, including 6-9 in the NWC. The Lutes have lost six consecutive games.

It is the fourth time he has been named NWC Student-Athlete of the Week this season. He also received the honor on Dec. 15, Jan. 5 and Feb. 9.

George Fox Rallies Past Bearcats, 89-81
February 12, 2010SALEM, ORE. -- George Fox University rallied from a 40-31 halftime deficit to defeat Willamette University, 89-81, in a Northwest Conference game at Cone Field House on Friday, Feb. 12. George Fox moved to 11-11 overall, 8-5 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette fell to 7-16 overall, 4-10 in the NWC. The loss ended Willamette's three-game winning streak.

The Pirates, ranked #15 in NCAA Division III by D3Hoops.com, upped their record to 16-2 overall and 9-0 in the NWC. The Bearcats fell to 4-14 overall, 1-8 in the NWC.

January 21, 2010PORTLAND, ORE. -- A feature about the Hoopsters for Haiti fundraiser is expected to aired by KGW-TV Channel 8 in Portland, Ore., during the local newscast at 6 p.m. (PST) on Thursday, Jan. 21. The Hoopsters for Haiti project will raise money during Willamette's home games against Pacific Lutheran University on Friday, Jan. 22 to help with the earthquake relief effort in Haiti .

January 15, 2010NEWBERG, ORE. -- George Fox University used a 15-2 run during a 3:26 span in the second half to extend a 10-point lead, and the Bruins went on to defeat Willamette University, 87-74, in a Northwest Conference game on Friday, Jan. 15. GFU upped its record to 6-8 overall, 3-2 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 3-12, 0-6 in the NWC.
