  • Women's Soccer Players Earn All-NWC Honors

    SALEM, ORE. -- Five members of the Willamette University women's soccer team received All-Northwest Conference honors following the 2010 season. Stephanie Skelly (Jr., MF, Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS), Alex Batzer (Sr., F, Medford, OR/North Medford HS) and Andrea Rowan (So., MF, Boise, ID/Timberline HS) were each named Second Team All-NWC. Seniors Kelli Gano (GK, Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) and Megan Moore (D, Tigard, OR/Tigard HS) were named Honorable Mention All-NWC.

    FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's soccer team concluded the 2010 season with a 1-0 victory over Pacific University on Saturday, Nov.6. Willamette ends the season 7-11-2 overall and 6-8-2 in the Northwest Conference. The Bearcats finished fifth in the NWC. Pacific ended the season 7-11-2 overall and 8-6-2 in the NWC, good for 4th place.

    TACOMA, WASH. -- The Pacific Lutheran University Lutes scored a goal with 7:47 remaining in the match and held off the Willamette University Bearcats to earn a 1-0 victory on Friday, Nov. 5 in Northwest Conference women's soccer action. Willamette fell to 6-11-2 overall and 5-8-2 in the NWC. Pacific Lutheran moved to 4-13-1 overall and 4-10-1 in the NWC.
  • Skelly Earns First Team ESPN Academic All-District

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University women's soccer player Stephanie Skelly (Jr., MF, Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) has been named First Team ESPN College Division Academic All-District VIII in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Skelly and other First Team Academic All-District selections are now eligible to be chosen for the ESPN College Division Academic All-America Team, which will be announced later this month.

Willamette fell to 6-10-2 overall and 5-7-2 in the NWC. Whitman improved to 6-11-1 overall and 4-10-1 in the NWC.

    SPOKANE, WASH. -- The Whitworth University Pirates scored three goals in the first half and added one more in the second half to defeat the Willamette University women's soccer team, 4-1, on Saturday, Oct. 30. Whitworth improved to 12-5-1 overall and 10-3-1 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette is now 6-9-2 overall and 5-6-2 in the NWC.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's soccer team played the University of Puget Sound to a 1-1 double overtime tie in Northwest Conference action on Sunday, Oct. 24. Willamette is now 6-8-2 overall and 5-5-2 in the NWC. Puget Sound is now 13-1-2 overall and 10-1-1 in the NWC. The Loggers entered the game ranked 20th in the latest DIII National Poll.

Skelly scored three goals during the weekend to move her season total to nine goals in 15 games.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's soccer team holds a solid third place ranking in the 2010 Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, as determined in voting by the league's head coaches. Willamette finished third in the NWC standings in 2009, as the Bearcats went 8-7-1 against conference opponents. The Bearcats were 9-9-2 overall.
